In-vivo veritas?

Tillions of animals are used every year to study new drugs and test the toxic effects of fertilisers and pesticides, household products and industrial products such as dyes and paints. In recent years, however, there has been an increasing trend towards replacing and reducing toxicity tests performed on in-vivo animals.

Not surprisingly, the use of vertebrate animals for scientific purposes in our country is regulated by (It.) Legislative Decree No. 26 of 4 March 2014, implementing European Directive No. 2010/63/EU on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes.
